This easy homemade slime allows kids to make slime without too much supervision. It needs three simple ingredients: glue, contact solution, and baking soda. This can also be used for a cheap science experiment. You can double the recipe or even triple, but most glue bottles come in 4 oz. bottles so I didn’t. Also, you can watch my video on making slime step-by-step.

Supplies needed:

Glue

Contact solution

Baking soda

Food coloring – optional

Glitter and other mix-ins – optional

8 oz. or larger plastic container

How to Make Fluffy Slime:

glue being poured

First, put glue into a plastic container. An 8 oz. container or larger is needed as you will need to add in other ingredients and stir. This will also be your storage container.

glue with food coloring being added

Note: this step is optional. Add 1-3 drops of food coloring and mix in. Keep in mind that the color you have right now will be the color of the finished product. You can also substitute the food coloring with acrylic paint. Just put a Q-tip into the bottle and get a ‘scoop’ of the paint. I prefer food coloring because it is easier to come by.

green glue with spoon in it

Add baking soda into the dish that holds the glue. Mix well. You can now add mix-ins, such as glitter. Doing it now makes it easier to stir in.

Now, stir in the contact solution well. The baking soda will react with the contact solution.

Finished green slime being stretched.

Start kneading the slime with your hands and then: LET THE FUN BEGIN!!!

Easy Homemade Slime

This is how to make fluffy slime easily!
Prep Time10 minutes mins
Keyword: easy, fluffy, slime
Yield: 1 Tennis ball shape
Author: Mia
Cost: $1

Equipment

  • Plastic spoon
  • Plastic container (air tight)
  • Plastic bowl (for making the slime)

Materials

  • 4 oz. Glue (stock up at the Dollar Tree or beginning of school year)
  • 1 tbsp. Contact solution
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Baking soda
  • 1-3 drops food coloring (optional)
  • Glitter or other mix-ins (optional)

Instructions

  • Place glue into the plastic bowl.
  • Add food coloring and stir until it is the color you want it.
  • Add the baking soda and stir.
  • Dump in the contact solution and mix well.
  • Take out of container and massage with hands.

Notes

~When playing with the slime, either play outside or over items that can get saline solution on it. Ask your parent where you should play with the slime.
~This can be stored in an airtight container up to three weeks at room temperature. If you want to make it last longer, put it in the door of your fridge. When ready to play with it again, just take it out about fifteen minutes before desired playing time. If it gets too sticky, give a squirt of the contact solution.
~You can double, or even triple this slime recipe. It is easy to make and fun to share!

Optional Mix-ins for Your Easy Homemade Slime:

Glitter: add glitter to white slime for a nice pop. Or add complementary glitter colors to the colored slime.

Beads: add small beads to your slime for texture.

Sequins: add sequins to the slime and play with it in a sunlit room.

How to Use the Easy Homemade Slime:

Make this during a party and let each guest choose their own color.

Having a family get-together? Bring ingredients for this slime and let the kids make slime in their preferable colors.
